The land on which the present-day Apple Barrel Orchards is located has been in our family for four generations.

Michael and Allison announce the opening of Apple Barrel Orchards Cidery! We are proud to be producing cider from apples that are grown, harvested and fermented here on the farm. In 2020, Allison dreamed up the idea to add a cidery to the farm. Plans were made to convert an existing pole barn into a small craft cider production barn and add a tasting room in the existing farm barn from 1896. Michael and Allison with the help of family and friends, undertook the challenge of renovating the barns by themselves. We are proud to have sourced local Finger Lakes businesses and vendors for the project. The cidery project was completed with the addition of a tasting room deck in March 2024.
Michael and Allison Hiller purchased the farm from Allison's parents, Bernie and Roxanne, to become the fourth-generation owners in the Wager family.
Michael and Allison are honored to carry on the family tradition and are excited to continue to add new offerings and experiences at the farm for years to come.
Bernie and Roxanne purchased the Apple Barrel business from Robert Wager, Bernie’s Uncle, in 1994. In 2005, the business was moved from its original location on Wager Hill Rd. and re-located to the Wager's family home farm on Sand Hill Rd. in Penn Yan, NY.
Bernard and Roxanne Wager purchased the farm from Bernie's parents, Charles and Barbara with a focus on growing the best apples, grapes and cherries for fresh fruit, juice and wine markets.
Charles and Barbara Wager purchased the farm from Charles' parents, Forrest and Olive and continued to grow grapes, apples, cherries, black raspberries and peaches.
Forrest and Olive Wager purchased the farm and raised cows and chickens and also grew apples, grapes, cherries, black raspberries and peaches on the land.
